Lion Red, the quintessential Kiwi beer, began life as the Pale Ale from the Great Northern Brewery in 1907 - a great year for beer and an even better one for beer drinkers. Over the last century, Lion Red has become a favourite for celebrating great times with good mates.

Nice, vibrant ruby red colour. Sweetly scented and classically "Martinborough" with a nice balance of red cherry, pretty florals and savoury, earthy notes. A delicious array of ripe and succulent red berry/cherry flavours and layers. Lovely spice and quite a lot of fruit and oak sweetness on the finish, complimented nicely by silky tannins and delicate acidity. Nice, fresh and youthful Pinot Noir expression. Great drinking now and will cellar nicely for 5 plus years. Food match with braised rabbit pappardelle.

Black Mac is a smooth Porter with hints of caramel, liquorice & chocolate. Earnestly made from a combo of 5 different malts, topped with Fuggle hops. Black Mac swims with dark undercurrents of caramel, liquorice and chocolate, topped off with the unique aroma of the Fuggles. Yes, they're really called that. No self-respecting brewery can do without a spectacular dark ale hogging the limelight, and of course no brewers are more self-respecting than Mac's. It tempers the smoothness of its toasted malts with the characterful presence of its hops.

Mac's Freeride is a pale ale brewed to be super low in alcohol but still full in flavour by the process of arrested fermentation. Pale and crystal malts are used to give the beer a smooth, caramelised malt flavour and full body. Fermentation is controlled to keep alcohol at less than 0.5% and then the beer is dry-hopped with New Zealand Nectaron hops, giving aromas of tropical fruit plus notes of peach and grapefruit.

Mac's Gold is the talisman of the Mac's family, an all malt lager brewed naturally with hints of citrus and sweet malts. Brewed to produce flavours of citrus, pine & tropical fruit. This India Pale Ale is then dry hopped for an explosion of hop aroma & flavour. Powerful and precise, Green Beret packs an arsenal of citrus and pine flavours with a skilfully controlled explosion of hoppy goodness. Mac's Green Beret IPA is named after the assertive punch of the US hops, but like any good soldier it also knows the virtues of discipline and restraint. The result is a well-balanced IPA that has a complex and rewarding flavour profile.

Mac's Slim Hazy is a Hazy IPA brewed to be low in carbs but still full in flavour. Slim Hazy uses Citra and Simcoe hops in the brewhouse and again for dry-hopping, this gives the beer both the right level of bitterness as well as up-front flavour and aroma. Mac's Slim Hazy has notes of passionfruit, pine and stone fruit. Overall, an easy drinking, very session-able IPA.
